The family winery is located on Kövecs Hill, near the village of Csörnyeföld, right by the triple border of Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia. It was founded in 1989 by Dr. László Bussay. Thanks to his and Dr. Ágnes Ratkovics’s dedicated efforts, Zala County has once again made its mark on Hungary’s wine map. Following Dr. Bussay’s passing in 2014, Dóri and Bianka took over the management of the winery.
With a focus on yield limitation, the 5.5-hectare estate produces just one bottle of wine per vine. The guiding principle is simple: bring the best possible quality into the cellar and strive not to spoil it.
Even in less favorable vintages, the wines stand out for their remarkable concentration, full-bodied character, and exceptional acidity structure. There is a commitment to allowing the wines to develop naturally in oak barrels, producing exclusively for bottling. Winemaking here is more than just a profession; it is a way to create value in a traditional form. The belief is that a good glass of wine serves as a bridge, seamlessly blending into any conversation.
