Palya

The story of the winery begins in 2020, when two people decided to put their hearts into a shared dream. Balázs Palya, a local boy who never strayed too far from home, and Julcsi Mészáros, who grew up among the vines of nearby Nagyréde. Balázs had followed the path of an electrical engineer, building a career in his profession. Julcsi, meanwhile, stepped away from her parents’ vine growing heritage to study logistics and carve out her own direction. Yet, life has a way of calling you back to what truly matters.

Today, although both still work full time jobs, their real story unfolds among the rows of their vineyards. Winemaking has become their craft, their passion, and their way of expressing themselves. From the first cut of pruning shears to the last basket of harvested grapes, they tend every vine with their own hands. No machines only patience, presence, and a deep, almost personal relationship with the land.

When harvest season arrives, the vineyard fills with laughter and helping hands. Family and friends gather, turning the hard work into a celebration. And with each year, the wines they create carry not just the taste of the soil, but the spirit of two people who chose to follow a dream rooted in dedication, simplicity, and love for the craft.

Since 2020, they have been crafting pure, no intervention wines made with the belief that nothing should stand between the grape and the glass. Every step in the cellar is done by hand. No pumps, no filtration, no fining, and no sulphur. The grapes are harvested manually, and the wines are bottled using nothing but gravity.

The result is wine in its most honest form: entirely grape driven, unmasked, and deeply expressive of the terroir. Each bottle carries not only the character of the vineyard but the quiet decisions, intentions, and messages of the winemakers themselves.
