Founded in 1998 by Ralf Wassmann and Susann Hanauer, the estate began with a charming Swabian-style farmhouse and a modest vineyard, planted with Portugieser vines. Since then, everything – from planting the vines to selling the wine – is handled exclusively by the couple, who do it all themselves, with passion and dedication. Over the years, Wassmann estate has flourished, expanding its organic grape production and building a stellar reputation for crafting wines of exceptional quality, consistently earning international acclaim since 2003.
In 2006, Wassmann estate made history by producing the first certified organic wine from Villány. By the 2012 vintage, the estate achieved full certification with DEMETER, solidifying its dedication to biodynamic principles.
Always ahead of the curve, Ralf Wassmann has embraced innovative natural winemaking techniques, such as producing PétNat, but his focus is on great red wines that captivate wine lovers and connoisseurs alike.
